Alejandro´s Story

Even though he joined Quadient during the pandemic, Alejandro quickly discovered an inclusive community where he can bring his authentic self to work.

"When I first joined Quadient, I received greetings from all the teams. For me, that felt amazing. I've never felt such a welcoming gesture and that’s something I really appreciate.”

How do you share your Hispanic heritage with Quadient teammates?

"Every chance I have, I reference my indigenous roots and embrace my indigenous heritage. I celebrate my Mexican heritage and talk about how it impacts my life. Like today, I decided to wear an indigenous traditional outfit rather than a Mexican stereotype like the sombrero."

In what ways does Quadient’s commitment to diversity of thought and experience make your life and work more fulfilling?

"In May, the Empowered Communities invited team members to join an International Pride Day Celebration. I’ve never worked where something like that happened. We were also invited to sign up for free workshops regarding inclusion topics and empowering us as an LGBT+ community. For me, it was like, “O-M-G! They’re not just letting us know we’re important to them, but they’re helping us understand how we work as a community!
Getting involved with Quadient’s Love is Love community helped me come out and realize I’m not the only one with a different sexual orientation. I felt so secure when I had the real chance to talk about my bisexuality with other colleagues. The group Love is Love made that possible and I’m happy to share my story."

When you think about Quadient’s core values — Empowerment, Passion, Inspiration and Community — which do you feel holds the most importance in your daily work?

"For me, it is community. We're one whole community sharing a world with limited resources. The best thing we can do to survive is share and to learn how to deal with our differences. Quadient is helping our world be a better place by thinking into the future. We’re always looking to leverage cloud technology and automation so businesses can run more efficiently.
Personally, I'm looking forward to sharing my Portuguese language knowledge in the community. I love to teach and that’s my passion. And I would like to help prepare the workforce here in Mexico. If we have more Portuguese speakers, for example, we will have more jobs and eventually, impact economic growth."
