The Merchant Solution Consultant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that merchants are onboarded effectively and that their financial performance is continually optimized through detailed statement analysis and ROI reporting. This role combines a deep understanding of payment processing with a consultative approach to help merchants maximize their profitability and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will focus on delivering actionable insights based on merchant statement analysis, supporting the boarding process, and ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for new and existing merchants.Key Responsibilities:
1. Merchant Statement Analysis & ROI Reporting:
Statement Analysis:
Conduct in-depth analysis of merchant processing statements, identifying key cost drivers, fees, and opportunities for optimization.
Compare current processing rates, fees, and volumes to provide a clear understanding of a merchant's cost structure.
ROI Reporting:
Develop customized ROI reports for merchants that demonstrate the value of services offered and highlight cost savings opportunities.
Track and report on key performance metrics, including transaction volume, cost per transaction, and overall profitability.
Present analysis and ROI insights to both internal teams and merchants, helping inform decision-making around pricing and product offerings.
2. Merchant Onboarding & Boarding Process Oversight:
Boarding Process Management:
Oversee the end-to-end merchant boarding process, ensuring all necessary documentation, underwriting, and compliance checks are completed accurately and timely.
Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., underwriting, compliance, technical support) to ensure seamless onboarding and activation of merchant accounts.
Serve as the primary point of contact for merchants during the onboarding phase, providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition to active processing.
Process Optimization:
Continuously evaluate and improve the boarding process to enhance efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and improve the overall merchant experience.
3. Merchant Support & Relationship Management:
Consultative Engagement:
Serve as a trusted advisor for merchants, providing insights into payment processing trends, best practices, and opportunities to reduce costs or increase operational efficiency.
Address merchant inquiries related to pricing, transaction fees, and processing performance, offering solutions to improve their ROI.
4. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
Internal Collaboration:
Work closely with sales, underwriting, compliance, risk, and support teams to ensure alignment in onboarding and merchant performance optimization.
Provide feedback to product and operations teams based on merchant interactions and analysis, helping to refine offerings and improve customer satisfaction.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
Documentation:
Ensure all merchant interactions, boarding steps, and analysis reports are thoroughly documented within the CRM or appropriate systems.
Reporting:
Develop regular reports for internal stakeholders on merchant performance, ROI results, and trends observed from statement analysis.
Key Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in the payments or merchant services industry.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in merchant services, payment processing, financial analysis, or a related field.
Experience conducting merchant statement analysis and working with interchange rates, fees, and payment processing structures.
Proven experience in managing merchant onboarding or account setup processes.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in payment processing systems, merchant boarding platforms, and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
Advanced skills in Excel or other data analysis tools for performing in-depth financial analysis.
Familiarity with ROI analysis methodologies and payment processing statement structures.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in an easily understandable format to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Consultative mindset with a customer-centric focus, driven to optimize merchant outcomes.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Accuracy and timeliness of merchant statement analysis and ROI reporting.
Efficiency and satisfaction metrics for the merchant onboarding process.
Merchant retention and satisfaction rates post-boarding.
Reduction in processing fees or other merchant costs based on statement analysis insights.
Successful completion and documentation of the boarding process for new merchants.
This position has a target base salary of:
$140,000.00and annual commission target of:
$45,000.00Quadient, Inc. has target base salary and target incentive compensation for our sales roles, that are based on function, level, and scope. To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share these targets on all job postings.
