CNC Lathe Machine Operator Setter (Programmer/Operator)
We are recruiting for our next CNC Lathe Machine Operator Setter. Quadient Technologies is one of those rare British companies that design and support products in-house, manufacture components and build electrical and mechanical assemblies prior to shipping on to our customers around the world.
Opportunity is based out of our Loughton office.
Your role in our future
To be able to set, programme and operative sliding head lathes.
To have knowledge of speeds and feeds and to select correct tooling to ensure efficiency and quality of components.
Self-inspection and buddy first offs to ensure components are within drawing specifications.
To liaise with the senior supervisor and communicate on shift issues.
To be health and safety aware.
To set CNC lathes with FANUC control is preferred, but training can be provided if the candidate has knowledge of operating CNC sliding head lathes.
A background knowledge of Fixed head lathes would be advantageous but not essential.
To programme from technical drawing, ensuring parts are within set cycle times.
To check components to technical drawings using inspection equipment, adjust offsets and edit programmes.
Self-inspection of components and to perform “buddy” checks for first offs, check parts during machine run and perform final inspections.
To ensure working areas are clean, tidy and to conform with health and safety risk assessment.
To be able to work overtime as required during busy periods.
All duties listed above are to be carried out under the direction of the Machine Shop Senior Supervisor, who may also require other duties not specified to be undertaken.
Your profile
Experience in working in a CNC workshop environment.
Programming knowledge of Fanuc controls, but training can be provided to the right candidate.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good investigative and problem-solving skills that to be utilised constantly.
Knowledge of statistical packages and Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Workday would be advantageous.
Well organised and flexible attitude.
Ability to work on own initiative with a pro-active strategic approach to challenges.
An open-minded approach to business costs and product costs.
Ability to influence individuals and teams to achieve desired goals and objectives.
Effective team player.
To have a clean and tidy work ethic.
Accurate and result driven worker.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
To be outgoing and kind.
Willingness to learn and desire to develop and expand knowledge in machining excellence and pass on any knowledge or previous experiences.
